Frequently Asked Questions

Do you ship outside Canada?

No. We ship within Canada only.

Can I switch from shipping to pickup later?

We will do our best to help when possible, but we cannot guarantee changes once orders have been packed or scheduled. It is best to choose the correct option at checkout.

Can I combine multiple orders?

If multiple orders are placed under the same name and pickup/shipping details, we may be able to accommodate and combine them where practical. This is not always guaranteed, especially once orders have begun processing.

What exactly am I buying?

All dahlia tubers are sold as individual tubers, not full clumps.

Each tuber is inspected before sale to ensure it is suitable for planting and includes a viable growing point.

Will my tuber already have a visible sprout?

Not always. Some tubers may still be dormant when they arrive or when you pick them up. Visible eyes or sprouts can be difficult to see at first, especially in cooler spring conditions. This is normal.

Are small or wrinkled tubers still healthy?

Yes. Dahlia tubers naturally vary in size, shape, and appearance by variety. A smaller or slightly wrinkled tuber can still grow into a healthy and productive plant, provided the tuber is sound and viable.

What should I do when I receive my tubers?

Please open your package promptly and inspect your order right away. Store tubers in a cool, dry, frost-free place until planting time. Dahlias should be planted only after the danger of frost has passed in your area.

What if there is a problem with my order?

If there is an issue with your order, please contact us by email within 3 days of delivery or pickup and include clear photos of the tuber(s) and packaging where applicable. We want the opportunity to review concerns promptly and fairly.

Do you guarantee that tubers are disease-free?

We take plant health seriously and follow careful growing and sanitation practices throughout our production and tuber handling process. However, dahlias are living plant material, and no grower can guarantee stock to be completely free from latent disease or virus. Environmental conditions, pests, handling, and growing practices all play a role in plant performance.

As part of our commitment to quality, we conduct annual random sample testing of our dahlia stock. Our 2026 testing results came back clear, providing an additional level of confidence in the health of our tubers at the time of sale.

Even with these practices in place, performance can vary depending on growing conditions, and we cannot guarantee how plants will perform once they are in your care.

Dahlia Tuber Sale Policies

1. Shipping Policy

We ship within Canada only.

Flat-rate shipping:

·         Standard Shipping: $25

·         Express Post: $35

Orders will ship when weather conditions are suitable for safe transit. Shipping dates may vary depending on spring temperatures and destination. We are unable to guarantee arrival dates once packages are in the hands of the carrier.

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout. We are not responsible for delays, returns, or delivery issues caused by incorrect address information.

2. Farm Pickup Policy

For 2026 we offer farm pickup for dahlia tuber orders on the April 18 weekend.

If you select farm pickup, you are responsible for collecting your order during the designated pickup window. Pickup instructions will be sent out in advance.

If you are unsure whether you can attend pickup, please choose shipping instead. We are not able to guarantee alternate pickup dates outside the scheduled pickup weekend.

3. Tuber Quality Policy

We take care to divide, label, and inspect our tubers before sale.

Please keep in mind:

·         Tubers are sold as individual divisions unless otherwise noted

·         Tuber size, shape, and skin texture vary by cultivar

·         Some tubers may still be dormant at the time of shipping or pickup

·         A visible sprout is not required for a tuber to be viable

·         Cosmetic differences do not necessarily affect performance

As with all living plant material, variation is natural.

4. True-to-Variety and Viability

We make every reasonable effort to ensure tubers are correctly identified and viable at the time they leave our care. Even with careful handling, occasional mistakes can happen in any farm operation involving many varieties.

If you believe there is a problem with your order, please contact us within 3 days of receiving it so we can review the concern.

5. Returns, Refunds, and Claims

Because dahlia tubers are a seasonal, perishable product, all sales are final.

We do not accept returns on tubers once they have left our farm or been picked up.

Refunds, credits, or replacements may be considered only in limited situations, such as:

·         tubers arriving in unusable condition

·         a packing error

·         an order issue reported within the required timeframe

Any concerns must be submitted by email within 3 days of delivery or pickup, along with photos.

We are not responsible for tuber loss or plant performance issues caused by weather, storage, planting conditions, pests, rot after planting, grower handling, or regional climate differences.

6. Order Changes and Cancellations

Please order carefully.

Once an order is placed, we cannot guarantee changes, additions, or substitutions. If you need to contact us regarding an order, please do so as soon as possible and we will advise whether any adjustment is still possible.

7. Plant Health and Sanitation

We follow careful farm practices to support healthy stock, including monitoring field performance, sanitation during division and handling, and culling tubers or plants that do not meet our standards.

That said, dahlias are agricultural products grown in real outdoor conditions. Plant viruses and disease pressures exist throughout the dahlia world, and symptoms can sometimes be influenced by weather, pests, soil health, and other environmental factors.

For that reason, we cannot guarantee that tubers will perform identically in every garden or growing situation.
